Configuring Windows 95/98 to connect to CyberLynk

Step 3: Configure Advanced Settings
Once the wizard has completed, you will be brought back to the Dial-Up
Networking window. You will now have a new icon named "CyberLynk"
(or whatever you decided to name it as you went through the Wizard. Right-click
on this new icon and click on "Properties".
Verify the information on the "General" tab. Then click on
the "Server Types" tab.
"Enable Software Compression" is the only item that should
be checked under "Advanced Options". If any other items are
checked ("Log on to Network" is usually selected by default),
the check can be removed by clicking on it once.
"TCP/IP" should be the only option
selected under "Allowed Network Protocols"
Once these settings are verified, click on
the "TCP/IP Settings" button.
"Server assigned IP address" should be selected.
Select the option to "Specify name server addresses" Enter
the numbers as they appear below.
"Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway on
remote network" are usually selected by default. If not, select these
items as well.
Once this is finished, click OK. You'll drop back to the previous screen.
Select OK again. This will return you to the Dial-Up Networking window.
Step 4: Connect and Make Shortcut
Your connection is now configured. To connect, simply double-click on
the icon you just configured. You'll need to enter your case-sensitive
user name and password and then click the "Connect" button.
If you would like your password to be remembered, select the option to
"Save password".
For convenience, you can place a shortcut on your Desktop to this connection.
Right-click on the icon you just created and configured and select "Create
shortcut". Don't panic when you get the "error" message
box! All it says is that it can't put the shortcut there - do you want
it on your Desktop? You do, so click "Yes".
Close the Dial-Up Networking window and return to your Desktop. You will
now see a shortcut you can use to connect.
